Term MP3 usually refers to MPEG -1 Audio Layer 3 standards. It is an encoding format for digital audio. It has over a period of time become most acceptable audio format being used with audio storage. The data compression is done in such way that the absence or inaccuracies generated due to conversion or compression (particularly pertains to certain frequencies of audio file) which cannot be deciphered by the human hearing in general. It means that basically the compression of data is achieved by reducing or ignoring the frequency components which are less audible and not very sensitive to the human ear.
